3. Peer Review Process

FSAR adopts double-blind peer review and reviews all manuscripts received. A manuscript is first reviewed for its format and adherence to the aims and scope of the journal. If the manuscript does not fit the aims and scope of the Journal or does not adhere to the Instructions for authors, it may be returned to the author immediately after receipt and without a review. Before reviewing, all submitted manuscripts are inspected by Similarity Check powered by iThenticate (, a plagiarism-screening tool.

The manuscripts are sent to two or more most relevant investigators for review of the contents. The editor selects peer referees by recommendation of the Editorial Board members or from the specialist database owned by the Editorial Board. The peer review process takes usually 4 to 8 weeks after the manuscript submission.

Copyright to all published materials is owned by the Korean Society for Food Science of Animal Resources. All authors should agree to the copyright transfer during the submission process.

FSAR is an open access journal. Articles are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial License (, which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. To use the tables or figures of FSAR in other journals, books or media for scholarly, educational purposes, the process of permission request to the publisher is not necessary. All contents of the journal are available immediately upon publication without embargo period.

8. Author Fees

The publication charge is 1,000 US dollars (or 1,000,000 Korean Won) per article for Korean Society for Food Science of Animal Resources (KoSFA) members and 1,200 US dollars (or 1,200,000 Korean Won) for non-members. First and corresponding authors should pay membership fee to KoSFA. The publication charge for a corresponding author outside Korea is 500 US dollars per article. Additionally, 100 US dollars (or 100,000 Korean Won) will be charged for color print per page for all authors. Invited review is exempt from page charges.

9. Process for Identification of and Dealing with Allegations of Research Misconduct

When the journal faces suspected cases of research and publication misconduct such as redundant (duplicate) publication, plagiarism, fraudulent or fabricated data, changes in authorship, an undisclosed conflict of interest, ethical problems with a submitted manuscript, a reviewer who has appropriated an author’s idea or data, complaints against editors, and so on, the resolution process will follow the flowchart provided by the Committee on Publication Ethics ( The discussion and decision on the suspected cases are carried out by the Editorial Board.

FSAR is published 6 times (January 1, March 1, May 1, July 1, September 1, and November 1) a year.

12. Access

FSAR is an open access journal. A free full-text service both in the XML and PDF formats is available immediately upon publication without embargo period.

13. Archiving

It is accessible without barrier from Korea Citation Index ( or National Library of Korea ( in the event a journal is no longer published. Full text of FSAR has been archived in PubMed Central (PMC; from the 34th volume, 2014. Authors cannot archive pre-print (i.e., pre-refereeing), but they can archive post-print (i.e., final draft post-refereeing). Authors can archive publisher’s version/PDF.

14. Revenues sources

Revenue sources of journal are from the support of publisher (Korean Society for Food Science of Animal Resources), author fees, and advertising rates.

15. Advertising

FSAR accepts advertisements. Any individuals or organizations who are interested in advertising their products or services in the print copies of the journal or on its website are encouraged to contact the editorial office. The acceptance of advertisement will be discussed by the editorial board and will be ultimately approved by the publisher.

Advertising is separate from content. Advertisers and sponsors have no advance knowledge of our editorial contents, nor do the editors have advance knowledge of advertisers. Content is never altered, added, or deleted to accommodate advertising. Advertisers and sponsors have no input regarding any of our editorial decisions or advertising policies.

16. Direct Marketing

Journal propagation has been done through the journal web site and distribution of an introduction pamphlet. Invitations to submit a manuscript are usually focused on the presenters at conferences, seminars, or workshops if the topic is related to the journal's aims and scope.
